Water Marble

One of my favorite, yet messy, designs is water marble. It gives each nail a unique design.

What you need:

1) small bowl (can be disposable)
2) toothpick
3) 2+ nail polish, of which one must be white
4) nail polish remover
5) Q-tip

Step 1:
Paint your nails with a white nail polish of your choice. I chose French White Creme from Wet n Wild

***Only use a white base if you chose light colors. The white brightens the colors. Otherwise, you can paint the base with any of the dark solid colors you are going to use .
Step 2:
Choose one or more colors of your choice. I chose Opi-ElePhantastic Pink and Opi- Do you Lilac it?.

Step 3:
Fill your small bowl three-fourths full with cool water. As you can see, I've used this plenty of times before.

Step 4:
Drop a drop of one of the colors you chose. Let it expand in the water then alternate between the other colors you chose. You do not need to fill your entire bowl, but do at least six rings.

Step 5:
Shape your rings with a toothpick. Insert the tip of your toothpick between the last and second to last ring and move in towards the center. Do not start from the last because the last ring usually settles before the rest. Do this from different sides of the ring until you are satisfied with the design.

Step 6:
Dip in your finger, but do not pull it out! With your other hand grab a Q-tip and remove the excess nail polish. Once it is all removed from the water, pull out your finger and ta-da! You have your first water marble nail!

Step 7: Remove the excess nail polish from around your nail. You can also place tape around your nail to avoid this step. Repeat step 5 and 6 for the rest of your fingers. Then place a top coat and done!

Here is the final result:
This was not my best watermarble design. I was a bit rushed and did not want to try several time because I do not like to waste nail polish. Follow the steps and take your time and you will get a great design.

Here are some pictures of other water marble designs I've done.
